The Yukon Assignment could be what you are looking for. It’s a simple story. Father and son take a canoe trip down a river. The son is a seasoned explorer and the Father is happy to be guided by him. The Father is quite a character and complains about mosquitoes and the cold and has some great conversations late at night with his pillow.
Encounters with caribous, bears and some tough moments give way to beautiful scenery.
I watched this on the train and it was like a meditation, a quite calm break from the noise and chaos of the world.
I’d of liked a few more Father/Son chats but that’s more than made up for by the incredible scenery.
